Several drugs containing the ingredient valsartan are being recalled by their manufacturers.

An impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), was found in the valsartan used in these products. NDMA is a potential human carcinogen, which means that it could cause cancer with long-term exposure.
