CDC: Top HPV-Associated Cancer Is Now Oropharyngeal

Oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is now the most common HPV-associated cancer in the United States, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that covers the years 1999 to 2015. Increase in locally-acquired Cyclosporiasis in Ontario

Cyclosporiasis is an infection of small bowel by parasite Cyclospora cayetanenis. Symptoms are: frequent, watery diarrhea; anorexia; fatigue; abdominal cramps; nausea; and myalgia. If untreated, symptoms last 6-7 weeks and vary in intensity. Cases are usually from travelers to endemic countries( Caribbean, South and Central America, South and East Asia) and by ingesting food or water contaminated with the parasite. Diagnosis can be done by a simple stool test. Treatment is Septra or Bactrim.

Several drugs containing the ingredient valsartan are being recalled by their manufacturers. An impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), was found in the valsartan used in these products.
